Pre-task: Choosing the characters for the proposals

Timing 

15 minutes.

Objectives 

  • Demonstrate understanding of the concepts of custom and favourite.

  • Provide appropriate answers to the task, either in English or in the L1.

Content 

  • Comprehension of simple instructions for work and action in the classroom.

  • Recognition and identification of words and short oral texts accompanied by visual supports.

  • Writing of words and short texts from oral productions related to classroom activities.

  • Vocabulary related to customs and carnival: ghost, witch, vampire, ninja…

Description 

The concept of custom is presented to the students. Then, they are asked to write down which are their 3 favourite Carnival customs individually in a piece of paper. Afterwards, the teacher will choose the 6 more voted, which will serve as characters for the following proposals.

Attention to diversity: For those students who do not know how to write, they can either ask the teacher or other classmates to write the words for them.

Assessment 

Students show understanding of the vocabulary and the instructions given by writing appropriate answers.
